Chávez: The Man Who Hated America

Chávez is a documentary based on the public and political life of the Venezuelan Ex-President from the day of the rebellion he commanded on February 4th, 1992 until his death on March 2013. In 1992, a paratrooper named Hugo Chávez failed to overthrow a government, only to emerge as a national figure with the defiant words, “Por Ahora” (For now). This feature-length documentary traces the extraordinary life of the man who became one of the most charismatic, controversial, and polarizing world leaders of the 21st century. It explores his working-class roots, the economic crises that fueled his Bolivarian Revolution, the 2002 coup attempt that nearly toppled him, and his efforts to unite Latin America against the United States.
